How to fill a white sky

Celebrate high key

We often find in a landscape situation the delicate tracery of trees, the detail of which is completely lost when set against a darkened sky. If, however, they are viewed against a very pale sky, the simple beauty of these trees becomes immediately more apparent. Also, be prepared to expand your definition of ‘landscape’. The countryside is awash with delicate manmade structures such as power lines, pylons and wind turbines that are similarly best photographed when set against a pale featureless sky. Effectively they form delicate silhouettes within the landscape.
